CA Prop. 8 opponents trample on Cross and attack elderly woman

So is this your idea of democracy? Regardless of what you think of the gay marriage issue, this sort of thing is absolutely inexcusable. Proposition 8 was a ballot measure in California that amended the state constitution to define marriage only as between a man and a woman. It passed by a good-sized margin, 52.3% to 47.7%, roughly the same breakdown as the presidential election which is being called a “landslide.”

To put it bluntly, the measure went to the people and the people voted on it. Now that the vote didn’t go their way, opponents of Proposition 8 are taking to the streets in protest, despite the fact that they clearly lost the vote. This vote was carried out in a democratic fashion and was carried out fairly, which leads me to believe that the Prop 8 opponents would only have been satisfied if they had won. I guarantee you that if they had won by the same margin, they would NOT be saying that justice has been miscarried and that democracy failed.

Democracy didn’t fail, it worked. YOU LOST, GET IT? Your chance to defeat this once and for all came on election day and you LOST. Now you have opponents heading to court in attempt to force the courts to overturn the will of the people. That is not democracy.

So yesterday, November 11, there was a protest in California where several hundred (it is unclear how many were there) gay marriage supporters attempted to silence someone who was exercising her constitutionally protected right to free speech simply because they disagreed with what she said. They call her every name in the book, scream at her, do not allow her to speak to the member of the media that sought to interview her, and then grab the Cross out of her hands and proceed to stomp on it like Saracens after the fall of Jerusalem.

This is utterly inexcusable, offensive, and repugnant. I am truly astounded by the hate and venom of this crowd and their utter disregard for the way our democracy works. All I have to say to the protesters is this: thank you. This disgusting display of hatred towards Christianity and organized religion will make the rounds on the internet. Millions will see it and be infuriated by the way in which the Cross was beaten and desecrated, and those millions will then go to the polls whenever there is an amendment banning gay marriage and see that it passes. You want to show respectability and that you deserve to be able to marry whomever you wish? This ain’t the way to do it, and you’ve done nothing except harm your own cause.

This video will be a rallying cry for all those who believe that marriage is between a man and a woman, and will help ban gay marriage in every state around the nation. Way to go, I’m sure you’re proud of yourselves.

So you want to fix the economy, Pres. Obama?

Here’s what you should start to do RIGHT AWAY:

Nuclear power-- the solution to our energy needs

1) Lower the capital gains tax. The stock market is in shambles, and right now we need to encourage renewed investment. Historically, every time the CGT has been raised, the government’s revenue from that tax has gone down. Now I know that having a low CGT flies in the fact of your fairness doctrine, but you simply cannot equate the CGT to regular income taxes. Investing in the stock market is very risky, and a low CGT mitigates the risk by improving potential reward. In other words, you need some sort of incentive to invest in a risky market. If one knows that they can pay less taxes by investing in the market, they are more apt to make that investment. If you raise the CGT, they have less potential reward for their investment, thereby resulting in investors choosing less risky options than the stock market. It’s all risk vs. reward. The higher the risk, the greater the reward.

2) LOWER corporate taxes. I know you think that corporations are the biggest culprits in this economic slowdown, but the truth of the matter is that raising corporate taxes will only drive corporations to seek lower taxes overseas. Take a look at my former home-away-from-home Ireland. Corporate taxes are 11%, some of the lowest in the world, and as a result, companies like Google, Hewlett-Packard, and SAP have set up MAJOR headquarters in the towns around Dublin, creating thousands of jobs, more wealth, and a vastly improved economy. Dublin is flourishing with all of these young professionals who are buying goods, houses, and eating and drinking in restaurants. Low corporate taxes = more jobs and more wealth.

3) Begin building nuclear plants ASAP. You want renewable energy? Cool, so do I. Nuclear power is clean, efficient and reliable. Look at our friends in France who have been using nuclear power for over 40 years– they have the lowest emissions in Europe and the lowest electric bills in the world. There hasn’t been a single accident, and we currently have the reprocessing technology that ensures enough nuclear fuel for at least 10,000 years. Building new nuclear plants will generate jobs, obviously, and, once they go online, will VASTLY reduce our CO2 emissions and drastically cut our energy costs. It will also nearly kill our reliance on foreign sources of energy and keep that liquidity in the United States rather than in Saudi Arabia. Nuclear investment will help the environment, help our wallets, and help our employment rate.

4) Keep the death tax off of the books. If someone works their entire life, pays taxes on their earnings, then leaves that money to their children, they should NOT be taxed again upon the transfer of that money. If someone’s father doesn’t want their grandchildren to have to worry about paying for college, then the government should absolutely NOT step in and take that money. Remember, this is money that has already had taxes taken out of it. Where is the incentive for Americans to work hard and save if they know that the government is going to take a massive chunk out of it when they die? How will family businesses be kept in the family if children are taxed so heavily on their new acquisition that they have to sell the family business?

That’s all I can think of for now, but if you truly want to help this economy, these are some of the things you have to do.

So… what do you like about Obama’s policies?

This came my way via a friend in New York. It’s the Howard Stern show interviewing people in Harlem as to who they were voting for and why. Here’s the thing, though: they asked them if they agreed with Obama’s policies, but actually listed McCain’s policies! They also were very confident in Obama’s pick of Sarah Palin as vice president. These are the types of people who decided this election! My lord, this country is so screwed.

I also love how none of them can give any concrete reason why they don’t like McCain. One woman went as far to label McCain uneducated. Take a look at the national security debate, lady, and tell me who had more facts to back them up.

You’ve got your shot– try not to screw it up beyond recognition

Well judging from the latest exit polls, it seems as though Obama, amazingly, is going to win this election. Just to remind all of you who voted for him, you voted for:

-Higher taxes
-Redistribution of wealth
-Bankrupting the coal industry
-”Skyrocketing” energy costs (his words, not mine!)
-Massive cuts in the military
-Surrender in the Iraq war
-Validation of terrorist groups through meetings without preconditions

Slightly over 50% of you have voted for all of this, so don’t come pissing and moaning back to me when it happens. I just hope Obama doesn’t screw everything up so badly that it’ll take two entire terms for a Republican to clean up his mess. Get ready, folks! It’s recession and depression time! You best bury your savings in the back yard, because this is going to get ugly, at least until Romney wipes the floor with Obama in 2012.

Obama on the Coal Industry: “Bankrupt them.”

To the hundreds of thousands of Americans who work in coal power plants, work hard to develop clean coal technology, and work in our coal mines:

You’re screwed if Obama gets elected.

West Virginia? Say goodbye to your economy. Pennsylvania? Yup, you too. The other 36 states that produce coal? You can take all your coal reserves and just sit on them, because in an Obama administration, it’s not going to be used.

A recently released interview from the San Francisco Chronicle, Obama states the following regarding coal power in the United States:

“So if somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can; it’s just that it will bankrupt them because they’re going to be charged a huge sum for all that greenhouse gas that’s being emitted. That will also generate billions of dollars that we can invest in wind, solar, biodiesel and other alternative energy approaches. The only thing that I have said with respect to coal, I haven’t been some coal booster. What I have said is that for us to take coal off the table as a ideological matter as opposed to saying if technology allows us to use coal in a clean way, we should pursue it.”

What Obama doesn’t tell you (or, more appropriately, is too bullheaded to realize) is that 50% of America’s power comes from coal, and that to enact brutal taxes designed to “bankrupt” coal plants will cause economic devastation, not to mention massive blackouts and rampant unemployments in states where coal is a crucial part of the economy. Tell me, Barack, how in the hell are we going to generate power for half of America if you want to levy massive taxes against coal plants? Sure, you can take that “huge sum” and invest it in whatever kind of power generation you want, but you simply can’t snap your fingers and generate 50% of America’s energy cleanly and efficiently. You cannot replace over 80 years of infrastructure in a day, nor can you replace the hundreds of thousands of jobs that will be lost as a result.

Obama won’t even support clean coal technology, believing that coal itself should be taken off of the table as “an ideological matter” EVEN IF “technology allows us to use coal in a clean way.” This is just another case showing Americans how completely out-of-touch and inexperienced Obama is in every conceivable way. Tens of thousands of Americans work in coal mines to support their families, thousands more work in coal plants, thousands more work for companies that transport and refine the coal, not to mention those who research new technologies to make coal even cleaner. What will happen to all of these jobs if Obama’s taxes on coal power are allowed to come to fruition? What will happen to our energy bills?

This man is dangerously misguided. His arrogant and wrong-headed economic proposals will bankrupt this country and devastate the working class. You can listen to his fine speeches and his rhetoric all you want, but when it comes down to the issues, this man has absolutely no clue how to run an economy or preserve American jobs.

farther than the fact that the LA Times is in possession of a tape where Obama praises and details an intimate relationship with Rashid Khalidi, the former mouthpiece for the PLO (a terrorist organization). Khalidi is an outspoken critic of Israel and US policy in the Middle East and a former professor in Chicago. The video is of Obama’s comments in praise of Khalidi at this going-away dinner.

In the videotape, which is quoted in the LA Times story, Obama called Khalidi his “friend and frequent dinner companion.” At the time, Obama reminisced about dinners at the home of Khalidi and his wife Mona, who were leaving Chicago and heading to New York for Khalidi’s new job at Columbia University. 

The dinner talks had been “consistent reminders to me of my own blind spots and my own biases. . . . It’s for that reason that I’m hoping that, for many years to come, we continue that conversation — a conversation that is necessary not just around Mona and Rashid’s dinner table,” but around “this entire world,” the Times wrote, quoting Obama on the purported videotape. 

In his own words, Obama describes Khalidi as a close friend and a frequent dinner companion, but now has released a statement distancing himself from Khalidi and his radical views. Does any of this sound familiar to you? I mean, how many times has Obama had to release statements distancing himself from a radical associate? Anyway here goes the whitewashing:

Obama in recent months has distanced himself from the man the Times says he once called a friend. “He is not one of my advisers. He’s not one of my foreign policy people,” Obama said at a campaign event in May. “He is a respected scholar, although he vehemently disagrees with a lot of Israel’s policy.”

Yes, Barack, he vehemently disagrees with Israel’s policies, he vehemently disagrees with US policies, and he spoke for the PLO which is responsible for thousands of deaths and hundreds of acts of terrorism. Doesn’t it bother anyone that Obama sat at this man’s table and broke bread with him? That he sees him as a friend and someone who reminds him of his own “blind spots” and “biases?”

McCain has called for the LA Times to release the video, quite astutely pointing out the blatant double-standard in the media:

“I guarantee you, if there was a tape with me and Sarah Palin and some neo-Nazi or one of those, you think that that tape wouldn’t be made public? Of course, Americans need to know, particularly about Ayers, and also about the PLO. So hopefully there will be enough pressure on the L.A. Times that it’ll come out, but its really unfortunate that we have to go through this,” 

I’m sure in the coming days, Obama will say that Khalidi was making his radical statements while he wasn’t around, or he didn’t know about them, or some other stupid excuse. That either shows conscious deception or astonishing ignorance. Do you want either in the white house?

First it was Frank Marshall Davis, then Jeremiah Wright, then it was Tony Resko, then Bill Ayers, now Khalidi. Who’s next, Osama Bin Laden?

Biden blunders on the Catholic Church’s abortion stance

First it was Nancy Pelosi who blatantly misrepresented the Catholic Church’s teachings on abortion in order to make herself appear to be an “ardent” and “practicing” Catholic. Her view that there is a great deal of “uncertainty” and “debate” within the Church regarding when life begins is astonishingly uninformed, as the Church’s stance is now and always will be that life begins at conception and that abortion is gravely immoral and akin to infanticide.

Enter Joe Biden, speaking to the Delaware News Journal on his views as a Catholic and 35-year supporter of abortion rights. He states:

“It is not choice. It’s always a very, very, very difficult, difficult decision. I know that, my church has wrestled with this for 2,000 years.

We’ve always believed from the outset that abortion is wrong. But throughout the years, debated the degree to which it is wrong. There are always cases where it is never a first choice. It is always viewed as a dire decision. But throughout the church’s history, we’ve argued between whether or not it is wrong in every circumstance and the degree of wrong. Catholics have this notion, it’s almost a gradation.

We have mortal sins, venial sins, well, up until Pius IX, there were times when we said, ‘Look, there are circumstances in which it’s wrong but it is not damnation. Along came Pius IX in the 1860s and declared in fine doctrine, this was the first time that it occurred that it was absolute human life and being at the moment of conception.

It’s always been a debate. I take my religion very seriously.”

Apparently Joe Biden doesn’t take his religion seriously enough, because if he did, he’d know that the Church’s stance on abortion HAS NOT CHANGED in 2,000 years, and that is that abortion is WRONG. It is a mortal sin, it is a sin that cries out to God, and it is a sin against the very principles of the faith. In the Gospel of Mark, Jesus says:

“Let the little children come to me; do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of heaven belongs. I tell you solemnly, anyone who does not welcome the kingdom of God will never enter it.”

The disciples, according to Mark, were “turn[ing] them away” but Jesus’s response to this was to become “indignant.” The closed-mindedness of his disciples angered Him, and while His statement of “let the little children come to me” is a blessing of children, it is also a rebuke to his disciples who would turn them away from Him. In much the same way, abortion turns children away from Jesus by not giving them the opportunity to live a life according to Jesus’ teachings. To insinuate that abortion is “debatable” in Catholic theology is insulting, immoral, and contrary to every teaching and belief of the Catholic Church. Joe Biden, you are WRONG.

I was happy to see that he was immediately rebuked by his own bishop, who said:

In his interview with The News Journal published Oct. 19, Sen. Joe Biden presents a seriously erroneous picture of Catholic teaching on abortion. He said, “I know that my church has wrestled with this for 2,000 years,” and claimed repeatedly that the Church has a nuanced view of the subject that leaves a great deal of room for uncertainty and debate.

This is simply incorrect. The teaching of the Church is clear and not open to debate. Abortion is a grave sin because it is the wrongful taking of an innocent human life. The Church received the tradition opposing abortion from Judaism. In the Greco-Roman world, early Christians were identifiable by their rejection of the common practices of abortion and infanticide.

The Didache, probably the earliest Christian writing apart from the New Testament, explicitly condemns abortion without exceptions. It tells us there is a “way of life” and a “way of death” and abortion is a part of the way of death. This has been the consistent teaching of the Church ever since.

We all know why Biden and Pelosi insist on making these erroneous and ridiculous claims: because they think that the majority of Catholics are so stupid that they will believe this nonsense that it is possible to be a practicing Catholic and a supporter of abortion rights. The two CANNOT coexist: if you are a Catholic, you respect the sanctity of all life else you are simply NOT a Catholic. I know that may upset some of you out there who think you are religious despite your presumptuous and arrogant beliefs, but if you are not Pro-Life, then you cannot call yourself a Catholic, you should not call yourself a Catholic, and you have no right to exploit your self-validated identity as a Catholic in order to gather the votes of the faithful.

Obama’s surrogate attacks freedom of speech

First dissent will be discouraged.

Then dissent will be suppressed.

Then dissent will be illegal.

Sound like a line from a budget political thriller? Well it’s not, it’s a very real possibility in a potential Obama administration. If Obama is elected and the Democrats add to their lead in the legislature, we could be facing a form of liberal fascism that is unprecedented in this country.

It’s no secret that Obama and his surrogates are concerned about the coverage he gets on non-liberal media outlets like FoxNews and conservative talk radio shows like the Mark Levin Show and the Laura Ingraham Show. Obama himself joked at a recent fundraiser that FoxNews has probably cost him a few points in the polls.

Obama is a vocal advocate of the fairness doctrine, stating that he wants our tax system, like our health coverage, to be “fair.” But that fairness doctrine doesn’t only deal with the economy, it branches into the media world. Senator Jeff Bingaman (D – NM), a vocal supporter of Barack Obama, went on the Jim Villanucci show on KKOB radio to talk about the fairness doctrine and how it applies to the radio. Here’s the clip:

Yes, you’re not hearing things. Bingaman said that he wants radio to be fairer, and by fairness, he means disallowing stations from purveying any particular viewpoint, especially conservative. Everything must be presented in moderation and each radio station must be careful to give Americans a clear picture of each and every issue. That means that stations that harbor conservative shows could be FORCED to add liberal shows or lose their license to broadcast.

Listen, for the love of God, this is America. If I want to sit in my car and listen to conservative talk shows all day and all night, then that’s my own business. If you want to listen to liberal talk shows, you’re more than welcome to do so. But let me say this now: the second we start regulating what kind of viewpoints radio programs are allowed to have, freedom dies. It is NOT the government’s responsibility to regulate points of view or ideas. Their job is to make sure no one’s swearing or being obscene, not to make sure that no one is daring to speak out against them.
